Petra Christian Fellowship

Our Vision

Jesus told a story about a man who spread seed on different kinds of ground with the intention that the seed would take root, grow into a healthy plant and bear much fruit. Jesus later explained that the seed represented the Word of God and that the ground represented the hearts of men.

God’s Word, given to us in the 66 books that make up the Bible, is preached and taught here at Petra Christian Fellowship. It is our hope that people with soft hearts and open ears will come and hear His Word and with changed lives serve and honor the living God.

Jesus taught His disciples how they were to be different from the leaders and rulers in the world around them. He said, “But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:26-28.

Jesus began His earthly ministry healing large numbers of people and being an example of a servant. His desire was to do the will of His Father in Heaven. Here at Petra Christian Fellowship, we hope to serve whoever walks through our doors, work alongside other nearby ministries and support missionaries and ministries in other countries.

“Others, Lord, yes others
Let this my motto be
Help me live for others
That I may live like thee”
(Refrain from the Poem “Others” by Charles D. Meigs)

In the Gospel of Mark 16:15, Jesus said to His disciples, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” In the Book of Acts 1:8, it is recorded that after His resurrection from the dead Jesus said, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the utmost part of the earth.”

It is our desire to help train God’s people and send them out into the world to share and teach the good news of Jesus Christ. That may be to our nearby circle of friends, family and strangers or as church planters and missionaries near and far, wherever the Holy Spirit leads.
